Introduction
Greene Hill Food Co-op Bylaws Recommendations
After receiving input from the General Meeting and the Steering Committee, we have compiled the following recommendations for GHFC’s bylaws. The Governance Committee will take comments and questions on these recommendations for the next two weeks and ask for a vote of confidence from the membership at the next General Meeting on August 10th. The recommendations will then be sent to our attorneys, who will advise us of any necessary additions or changes and draft the official document.
So please use this forum to let us know if you have any questions or comments about the proposed bylaws
Articles of the bylaws:
Dear Friends at GHF:
My name is Brian Merlis and would like to introduce myself.
I am a local historian currently living in Freeport on Long Island. I’m from Brooklyn and have amassed a large archive of material, some of which you may be familiar with. I hold more historic photos of your area than almost anybody. My website, http://www.Brooklynpix.com, as well as my nearly 20 books about Brooklyn, have become quite popular here, as well as across the country.
I am currently working on a Clinton Hill/Wallabout book, and would like to speak with you about the area, maybe an informal interview or just shoot the breeze about the area.
My book will not be anything like the Fort Greene book that recently was put out by Arcadia; mine will be over 200 pages, hardcovered glossy stock. (I turned Arcadia down because I demanded a better product, so I’ll be self-publishing.) A high quality publication should represent a wonderful district like The Hill !!!
Recently I chatted with SCH president David Haberer, and am reaching out to other involved members of the community.
THIS BOOK WILL BE QUITE POPULAR; YOU MAY WANT TO CARRY IT IN THE CO-OP !
Thank You for Your Time,
Best Wishes,
Brian Merlis (516) 808-1214
